Through special events, Schools for Salone shares information about Sierra Leone life and culture, and raises awareness about the state of education in this poorest of nations, the plight of it’s children, their futures and the future of the country. These events help us raise funds to build schools, provide safe drinking water, support and train teachers, and send books to many schools in far up country rural areas.

The Schools for Salone Second Annual Seattle Anniversary Dinner on November 17, 2012, was a huge success thanks to the support of the Seattle community and our sponsors. The evening kicked off at the Hall at Fauntlery, a former schoolhouse in West Seattle.
It featured inspirational music, speakers and fine food and wine, all to support building schools and training teachers in Sierra Leone. Margaret Larson of “New Day Northwest” of King 5 TV was the moderator. Special Guest Black Nature of the Sierra Leone Refugee All Stars Band sang.
Funds in excess of $70,000 were raised, thanks to the support of guests and the generous matching contributions of the Sherry Schultz from the Schultz Family Foundation.
