Koromasilaia Test Scores

The students at this new junior secondary school achieved one of the highest graduation exam pass rates in their district and the neighboring district! Out of 39 students who took the exam, 33 students passed all 8 subjects, 3 students passed 7 subjects, 1 student passed 6 and 1 student passed 5. Only 1 student did not pass. Well done students of Koromasilaia!

The old school building in Koromasilaia was breaking down and starting to collapse. It was unsafe to continue holding school in that building. Additionally, because students from 13 other communities come to this school, the old building was too small and did not have room for all the students. The junior secondary school in Koromasilaia is the only junior secondary school in the area. In response to the need for a larger, safe school building, the community requested a school from Schools for Salone. The school was a partnership between the community, which provided local material and labor, our team in the north consisting of Hamidu, Clinton, and Salifu, generous donors, and Schools for Salone.

A safe, strong, and spacious school building with adequate teaching and learning materials equipped these students to reach their potential. A special thanks to those the Henlopen Foundation, Dana and Rich Wekerle, and their family and friends, who made this school possible last year.[/fusion_text][fusion_text columns=”” Madina is a rural community in the far northern part of Sierra Leone. It is very difficult to get to during rainy season, and the education support in that area is minimal. This community had a crumbling mud-block school that was not safe for use.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of Dr. Ken Lans, Madina will have a new, safe school that will revitalize educational opportunity for the children of Madina for generations to come.

Construction has already begun and is progressing rapidly. The community is helping to secure locally available materials like sand and sticks. Salifu and his construction team have started building the cement blocks for the school and our partners Hamidu and Clinton are overseeing the project. This school is on track to be completed well before the rainy season begins in June.

one of our board members, James Mannah. The community did not have a safe, permanent school building, so SfS and PFC are building a strong cement-block school. PFC’s construction team has been working hard and the walls are already up! PFC’s construction team have started building the trusses for the roof. The school is nearing completion and the students in Ngolehun can hardly wait to start school in their new building.

Robis- PFC is also working on a new set of two classrooms for Robis, a school built by PFC and SfS that has outgrown the capacity of the original building. What an great problem to have! The desire for education is strong in Robis and enrollment is growing quickly. Construction trucks have had difficulty traveling to the school, but still construction is progressing. PFC’s dedicated team is managing the project well and the walls are almost complete.[/fusion_text][fusion_text columns=”” column_min_width=”” column_spacing=”” rule_style=”default” rule_size=”” rule_color=”” class=”” id=””][/fusion_text][fusion_button link=”/donate-new” title=”” target=”_self” link_attributes=”” alignment=”” modal=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” color=”custom” button_gradient_top_color=”#59bff7″ button_gradient_bottom_color=”#59bff7″ button_gradient_top_color_hover=”#4089b2″ button_gradient_bottom_color_hover=”#4089b2″ accent_color=”#000000″ accent_hover_color=”#000000″ type=”flat” bevel_color=”” border_width=”0″ size=”xlarge” stretch=”default” icon=”” icon_position=”left” icon_divider=”no” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=”” border_radius=”0″ border_color=”#000000″ border_hover_color=”#000000″]Donate[/fusion_button][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
