We are thrilled to share our 2024-2025 Impact Report, a comprehensive look at the incredible strides we’ve made in providing quality education to children in last-mile communities in Sierra Leone. This year marks our 20th anniversary, a significant milestone reflecting two decades of partnership, growth, and unwavering commitment.
A Message from Our Executive Director, Allison Sinning:
“It is my honor to serve as executive director of Schools for Salone (SfS), succeeding our visionary founder, Cindy Nofziger. After twenty years of leadership, Cindy leaves a profound legacy of collaboration, impact, and commitment that has lifted the lives of many of Sierra Leone’s children. We are excited to celebrate this year’s 20th anniversary of opening our first school and reflect on SfS’s journey from post-conflict reconstruction to driving systemic, positive, educational change with our local partners.”
Key 2024-2025 Achievements:
We deliver our mission in collaboration with our partner organizations focusing on programs that increase access to education, improve quality and keep girls in schools. Here are some of our major achievements this academic year:
- We built 3 new schools (Lengekoro Senior Secondary School, Koromasilaia Senior Secondary School, Pentagon Primary School), enrolled 8,321
- 62 teachers participated in literacy training, 23 teachers and 590 students in reading clubs, 23 teachers in distance learning certification, 56 teachers in library programs, 3,882 new books, and 21,000 library visits.
- 2,872 girls and 2,428 women participated in sexual reproductive health education, 2,465 boys and 1,206 men participated in sexual reproductive health education, and 3,759 menstrual hygiene kits were distributed.
We could not have done any of this without our partners.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible partners: Programme for Children, Uman Tok, The Learning Foundation, Sierra Leone Book Trust, and Clinton Caulker. Their dedication and collaboration are vital to our success.
Financials:
In Fiscal Year 2024, our financial outlook was strengthened with a 20% increase in donation income. We are deeply grateful for the ongoing generosity of hundreds of individual donors and private foundation grants. Thank you!
Looking Ahead (2025-2026 Program Goals):
