WASH Stations for 6 Villages

Thanks to the wonderful collective giving of our community on GiveBIG, six of our school communities will have access to latrines and rainwater collection systems. This holistic approach to health and hygiene will give these villages the resources they need to keep their community members safe and healthy for generations to come.

Health is inextricably linked to education. Sanitation and hygiene infrastructures are essential to supporting good health. Schools for Salone has expanded its priorities to include health and sanitation ever since Sierra Leone was devastated by Ebola. We have installed these three-stall septic toilets with rainwater collection hand washing stations in every single one of our schools. Now we are broadening our efforts to a more holistic, community-based approach by installing these WASH stations in the villages where our schools are located as well. This will allow the whole community to have access to clean, safe, private, and sanitary facilities for maintaining personal hygiene.
