In early December, The Learning Foundation held another training in the early literacy workshop series we are implementing with our teachers in the South. For the first time, Mamusu led the training. Mamusu is an incredible teacher herself and has been training with The Learning Foundation to learn how to share her knowledge and expertise with her peers in Schools for Salone schools across the country. Mamusu did an incredible job!
The main topics of the training included:
- identifying children’s learning styles and how to teach to meet the needs of different types of learners
- identify strategies to teach letter sounds
- learn phonics skills as a foundation for literacy
- use Bob books, letter cards, PlayDoh, and resources readily available around the schools to teach reading and comprehension skills
We are so grateful to TLF for their interactive, collaborative, and constructive trainings that are helping build literacy in Sierra Leone.
