NEW SCHOOL NEWS! — Koinadugu District
Schools for Salone is starting construction of a new school in Lengekoro, Koinadugu District, Sierra Leone. In this video, community leaders officially hand over the land to begin the project, supporting better access to education for local students, especially girls.

Spotlight: Sierra Leone Education Champions — Programme for Children
Programme for Children (PFC), Schools for Salone’s oldest in-country partner, has been supporting education in Sierra Leone since 1980. Led by Joseph Williams Lamin, PFC has built over 65 schools, along with latrines, water wells, and provided scholarships to thousands of children. Their dedication continues to empower students, teachers, and women across the country. Click to watch the video.
Spotlight: Sierra Leone Education Champions — Uman Tok
Uman Tok (“Woman Talk” in Krio) is a women-led initiative in Sierra Leone focused on empowering women and girls through reproductive health education and access to sustainable, hygienic menstruation kits. The team produces Days for Girls kits locally, distributes them to students in Schools for Salone schools, and shares them through partner organizations to support women and girls across communities. Meet Agnes, the dedicated headmistress of Masanga Primary School. She plays a key role in strengthening education by leading teacher training programs for Schools for Salone through our partner, The Learning Foundation. Spotlight: Sierra Leone Education Champions — The Learning Foundation
The Learning Foundation is Schools for Salone’s teacher training and literacy partner. With support from SfS, they run reading programs in schools and libraries to improve literacy and student engagement. Their work focuses on teachers, librarians, students, and especially girls in junior secondary school, helping close gaps in achievement and school retention. Click to watch the video.
